La utilidad de este tipo de mapas es que los visitantes pueden con un rápido vistazo, hacerse una idea de cómo está organizada la información de esa web. Si además este se hace de una manera determinada, la información tambiénpodrá ser aprovechada por las arañas (spiders) que rastrean la web indexando páginas.
La forma habitual de hacer un sitemap esconstruyendo un archivo XML que incluye todas las direcciones de un sitio, a los que se adjuntan algunos metadatos como la importancia relativa de cada una de ellas, última actualización y frecuencia de modificación, por ejemplo.
Pero esto que para una web convencional más o menos estática es relativamente fácil de hacer conalgunas de las herramientas que podemos encontrar en la Red, para un blog con frecuentes actualizaciones y especialmente en Blogger, resulta una tarea algo más ardua.
Sin embargo, existeuna forma muy sencilla de enviar un sitemap y que este sirva para agilizar la indexación de todas nuestras URLs, todas las entradas en realidad. Se trataría de aprovechar nuestro feed que a fin de cuentas es un fichero del tipo .xml y un servicio de Google llamadoWebmasters Tools oHerramientas para webmasters.
