Botones sociales ligeritos de peso para evitar demora en la carga – Hard drive – Platform – Shipping

Los botones sociales que casi todos ponemos en nuestras páginas para que los lectores puedan compartir sus contenidos, son uno de esos elementos prácticamente fijos que suman peso en nuestras plantillas y afectan a la velocidad carga.

Cada botón que añadimos supone por una parte más código a cargar y no sólo por esas pocas líneas que ponemos, sino también por todo el contenido que dichas líneas generan al llamar a sus correspondientes funciones JavaScript o al contenido de otras páginas externas para mostrarse mediante iframes.

Por otra parte, cada llamada a esos sitios externos supone una nueva petición para el servidor que siempre es también motivo de algo de demora. Es verdad que para casi todos existen sistemas asíncronos (Google+,Pinterest) que alivian un poco este tema, ya que no cargan todo ese código hasta que el contenido principal de nuestro propio sitio no ha aparecido, pero a la postre, también se cargan y suman.

Un sitio dónde me gusta comprobar esto porque es muy gráfico es enPingdom Tools. En esa o cualquier otra herramienta similar, fijaros en los ficheros que se cargan y que llevan el nombre fb, twitter o plus, aunque simplemente con una conexión lenta (móvil) ya se puede apreciar perfectamente como esto de los botoncitos es de lo que más tarda en cargar.

Pero pocosquieren queremos renunciar a esos botones y por otra parte, también nos gusta que luzcan hermosos y operativos en nuestro sitio ¿verdad?

Pues nada, hoy veremos un sistema para que todo eso que se tiene que cargar, sólo se haga cuando el usuario pinche en el botón en cuestión y por otra parte, que este tenga el aspecto que nosotros queramos... dentro de unos límites.

Porque eso sí, esta mejora tendrá un precio y será que tendremos que renunciar a los contadores de los botones. Pero ¿a quién le importan esos números además de a nuestro ego? Recordar que para conocerlos ya existen otras herramientas.

Todo el sistema se basa en usar direcciones específicas que permiten pasar parámetros y que casi todos los servicios tienen para poder remitir artículos. Aquí tenéís unalista de direcciones directas para compartir que incluye las redes más populares y alguna cosilla más por si con las seis que pondré no tenéis bastante.

Teniendo esas direcciones y añadiéndole unas cuantas variables, habremos resuelto el tema del lastre de los botones sociales.

No vamos a cargar nada a priori, ni librerías, ni imágenes externas, ni datos sobre contadores... nada. Todo serán enlaces (casi) simples y será después de que nuestra página haya terminado de cargar -no antes- cuando al pinchar los botones se lanzará una ventana emergente con el servicio escogido y automáticamente se añadirán en ella los datos del artículo: título, resumen, imagen, etc.

Sería algo como esto que podéis probar a continuación, pues los siguientes son botones de ese tipo, totalmente operativos.

Una vez explicado que esto son simples enlaces, para conseguir que se abran en ventana nueva lo que hacemos es añadir un JavaScript básico para generar un pop-up y mediante las variablesDATA de Blogger, ya añadimos el resto de datos que en cada caso nos son necesarios. Para otras plataformas el sistema sería el mismo pero utilizando las variables que le sean propias (y que desconozco).

Este sería el código a insertar en la plantilla, allá dónde queramos que aparezcan los botones. Como siempre, los dos sitios que parecen idóneos para Blogger serían dentro delpost-header o delpost-footer.

No olvidéis cambiar los dos datos marcados en verde por los vuestros propios. Son en el botón de Twitter el usuario y en el de Linkedin, el de la fuente osource.

Con esto ya tenemos unos enlaces que servirán para compartir, pero como querremos algo un poco más mono, con CSS los animamos y de paso los hacemos adaptables (RWD). Este sería el estilo necesario para que quedaran como visteis antes.

Galería de imágenes sencillísima y a prueba de torpes – Free

Hace un tiempo alguien me pidió que le montara una página a modo de galería de imágenes o portfolio, en la que mostrar a tamaño reducido determinada colección de fotografías para después poderlas ampliar a demanda.

Existen multitud de plugins JavaScript para esto (1)(2), pero evidentemente requieren de un extra de código con este lenguaje que normalmente no es corto y que incrementará el peso de nuestra plantilla a medida que lo compliquemos para incorporar efectos. También requieren de un tiempo de procesado que además de volver a sumar para el tiempo de carga, provoca que en conexiones lentas a veces se vea un pequeño desbarajuste antes de que se compongan todas las imágenes adecuadamente.

Otro sistema alternativo sería usar exclusivamente CSS (1)(2), que es mucho más liviano tanto en carga como en procesado. El problema en este caso es que que casi siempre hay que delimitar a priori la cantidad de imágenes a mostrar y en función de ese número ir reconstruyendo las reglas, algo que no está al alcance de todos.

Para ese caso que comento en el que sobre todo necesitábamos hacer algo sencillo, se me ocurrió aprovechar las características de Blogger para que sólo fuera cuestión de subir imágenes. Va a dar igual la proporción o tamaño que tengan, funcionará independientemte del posicionamiento que marqueis (centrado, flotado...) e incluso si llevan espaciados o saltos de líneas entre ellas; con sólo añadir un CSS a la página la galería saldrá siempre con el mismo formato y ellightbox propio de Blogger hará el resto ¿lo vemos?


Y si dije en el título de esta entrada que era sencillísimo, así va a ser. Sólo tenemos que seguir tres pasos, a cual más fácil:

1. Crear una página estática

Vamos alEscritorio de Blogger y accedemos a la opción del menú denominadaPáginas. Una vez allí pinchamos en el botónPágina nueva.

2. Añadir el CSS directamente en la página

Para que el nuevo estilo no afecte a las entradas normales y sobre todo, para no complicarnos, pegamos este CSS directamente en la página.

La única precaución que tenemos que tener aquí es que enConfiguración de la página tengamos seleccionada la opciónInterpretar HTML escrito, aunque tampoco es imprescindible... creo.

Este código llama a los selectores que habitualmente usa Blogger para el cuerpo de entradas y las imágenes que en él podemos subir, así que si tu plantilla usa selectores distintos (no es muy habitual que cambien precisamente estos), puede que tengas que cambiarlos.

3. Subir imágenes con el editor al libre albedrío

Ahora, una vez el CSS está en la página, ya sólo tenemos que añadir imágenes a discreción usando el correspondiente botón del editor.

Como decía al principio, dará igual que las alineemos a la derecha, a la izquierda, que las centremos, que le demos un tamaño u otro. Ese CSS que pusimos anulará todos los estilos que se pudieran insertar intencionada o accidentalmente y las imágenes se mostrarán con un ancho de 200px, centradas en el cuerpo de las entradas y centradas también en vertical con respecto a cada línea o fila.

Cierto es que no todas tendrán la misma forma si son distintas, pero para que fuera de otra manera tendríamos que deformarlas forzando su redimensión (.post-body img {height: 200px;}) y me pareció más elegante dejarlas sin distorsión aún a pesar de lo antes comentado.


Si posteriormente queremos añadir más imágenes sólo tenemos que editar la página y hacerlo. Lo único que habrá que tener en cuenta es que se puede eliminar todo lo que hayamos añadido, excepto el CSS. Una vez guardada o publicada la página, esas líneas sólo son visibles si usamos el editor desde la pestañaHTML. Desde la deRedactar serán invisibles.

Si queréis que os quepan más imágenes por línea sólo habría que modificar el valor200px del CSS a otro menor (180px por ejemplo para cuerpos de entradas de unos 800px de ancho). Y no hay que preocuparse por otra cosa porque estas imágenes así montadas funcionan bien hasta en plantillas adaptables (RWD), ni siquiera porque en el editor las imágenes no se vean bien.

Publicar la imagen correcta al compartir enlaces en Facebook – Phone – Miami

Uno de los problemas que quizás me han consultadomásen estos años ha sido el de la irregularidad del contenido que aparece al compartir un enlace de un sitio web en Facebook.

En unas ocasiones el asunto era que las imágenes candidatas (seleccionables) estabanpoco o nada relacionadas con la entrada, viéndose un banner, un avatar de un comentarista o cualquier otro gráfico que aparecía en la dirección de destino y que no era en ningún caso alguno de los que nosotros habíamos incluido en el post para ilustrar su contenido.

En otras el problema simplemente era que la miniatura salía muy pequeña, cuando las publicaciones de otros sitios mostraban imágenes más grandes sin problemas, ocupando todo el ancho de la columna central de los muros.


La verdad es que casi siempre respondía que no sabía el motivo de que ocurriera eso, pues tras muchas pruebas y pusiera lo que pusiera en la plantilla, la decisión de Facebook de colocarnos una imagen u otra parecía un poco azarosa y si a eso le añadimos que en ocasiones el título o el resumen de texto también era "raro", descubrir el patrón que haría que todo fuera bien no estaba a mi alcance.

Pero el motivo de esta supuesta aleatoriedad es que hay al menos dos factores que conjugados son los que determinan esto y si actuamos adecuadamente en uno y en otro no, los resultados no serán normalmente los que buscamos. Por tanto la solución está en hacer ambas cosas bien. Son las siguientes:

1. Marcado de datos con Opengraph

Por una parte está lo esencial, elmarcado de datos. Con esas marcas es como indicamos a los robots de los buscadores y redes sociales qué elementos de nuestro contenido representan datos interesantes para ellos y también la manera en que los etiquetamos según su tipo. Facebook usa su propio protocolo para esto y es el llamado Opengraph, que incluye además de este marcado semántico algunas utilidades para publicadores y una API para desarrolladores.

De esta manera, para indicar a Facebook qué título, imagen y resumen de texto debe mostrar en su red al compartir un enlace nuestro,lo primero que tenemos que incluir son unas meta como estas antes del cierre delhead:

Como veis lasmeta incluyen una propiedad autodescriptiva (en inglés) con el prefijoog: (OpenGraph) y sólo se trata de poner el contenido y la margaog:title,og:image uog:description, según el contenido del que se trate.

Pero claro, esto no es cuestión de estar escribiéndolo manualmente para cada entrada personalizando título, imagen y resumen, así que por ejemploen Blogger, lo podemos hacer mejor echando mano de lasvariables data.Sería así:

El título del post existe siempre, pero la imagen obviamente sólo saldrá si el post contiene alguna. Igual pasa con la descripción si no tenemos grabada ninguna para la entrada, sólo que en ese caso Facebook tomará como resumen aquel texto que su algoritmo le dicte.

¿Ydónde se graba esa descripción para controlarla nosotros? Pues es indivicual para cada post y al igual que las etiquetas las encontramos en Blogger en el editor de entradas, la descripción está en un menú a la derecha tituladoConfiguración de la entrada ¿Os suena haber visto una opción llamadaDescripción de búsqueda? Pues esa es la que hay que rellenar. Y no sólo para Facebook sino que también es más que recomendable grabarla de cara a lo que muestran los buscadores sobre nuestros enlaces.

2. Tamaño de las imágenes originales

Este es el otro factor de los dos que os comentaba al principio y que hacen que por mucho que marquemos adecuadamente, a veces las cosas no salgan como queremos.

Al igual que ocurre desde hace unos dos meses con lasimágenes en Google Plus, Facebook sólo muestra como elegibles aquellas imágenes que a criterio de su algoritmo tienen un tamaño adecuado. Además esto no ocurre de siempre, sino que ha ido evolucionando a lo largo del tiempo y por eso lo que hace tiempo os funcionaba bien, ahora quizás ha dejado de hacerlo.

Por tanto, si lo del marcado lo tenéis bien, no os calentéis la cabeza. La única solución 100% efectiva esusar imágenes en vuestras publicaciones de al menos 600x315 píxeles para que Facebook la escoja como primera opción. Esta debe ser la pauta para al menos la primera imagen de cada post.

La captura anexa tomada del propio apartado de ayuda de Facebook ilustra y explica esto. Recomiendan que sean de 1200x650, pero esto para la mayoría de casos parece un excesivo e innecesario peso.

Y comopara Google+ dijimos que el mínimo era 506px, ya es fácil deducir que para cubrir este tema en esas dos redes lo óptimo sería superar los 600px. Y ojo que Facebook es un poco caprichoso y requiere también una proporción mínima de 1,91:1 para no recortárnoslas. Se trata de imágenes apaisadas y teniendo en cuenta que el mínimo es de 600, de ahí se deduce la altura mínima de 315px.

En un principio, si el tamaño es menor pero suficiente (no sabría decir cual es el mínimo) Facebook nos mostrará igualmente la imagen marcada pero lo hará con un recorte cuadrado presentado a la izquierda del resumen de texto.

Demora en la actualización de datos

Otra cosa que no es relevante pero que también nos marea a veces un poco es que Facebook tiene algún tipo de demora en la actualización de estos datos y aunque lo hayamos hecho todo bien, podría mostrarnos temporalmente los datos marcados mal. Esto no lo he podido comprobar pero en algunos sitios he leído que hasta tres días y que incluso se actualizarán tras ese tiempo los datos de los posts ya publicados en Facebook con anterioridad. Esto último ya me suena un poco raro, pero es cuestión de comprobarlo.

Variante. Mostrar una imagen fija en portada

A algunos le puede interesar mostrar siempre una imagen fija con el logo del sitio o alguna imagen similar y para ello no hay más que incluir en lameta og:image directamente la dirección de esa imagen. Pero si lo que queremos es mostrar una cosa cuando se comparte la dirección de la página principal, páginas estáticas y de navegación, y otra en las entradas, entonces ya tenemos que echar mano de condiciones. Para Blogger sería así:

Comprobar que todo lo hicimos bien

Comenté antes que a veces hay una demora entre que nosotros marcamos y Facebook reacciona, por lo que ¿cómo podemos saber si los cambios introducidos en nuestra plantilla están correctos?

Pues para ello usaremos esta herramienta que es un sencillo depurador en el que introducimos una dirección y se nos indica con pelos y señales todas las marcas OpenGraph que Facebook leer en ella:Developers Object Debugger

Efecto imágenes apiladas – Auto – Hipotecario

Efecto CSS muy fácil para simular que una imagen está apilada sobre otras.

Esto lo conseguiremos con tan solo añadir una porción de código a nuestra hoja de estilo. A partir de ahí sólo será cuestión de incorporar una caja (div) con una clase creada ad hoc dispuesta de manera que "rodee" la imagen.

Todas las imágenes a las que les añadamos esa clase que en este ejemplo hemos nombrado comoseparator, se verán como si tuvieran dos imágenes más debajo algo desordenadas, por lo que he añadido una opción que hará que al pasar el puntero por encima de la imagen principal, se "cuadren" las que simulan estar debajo.


Suponiendo que ya tuviéramos la imagen, el HTML a añadir sería el que a continuación he marcado con color más oscuro:

Los pseudoelementos:before y:after no funcionan con imágenes y ese es el motivo por el que no podemos prescindir de la caja auxiliar y por el cual el código queda algo más largo de lo que en un principio sería necesario si no estuviéramos trabajando conimg.

El detalle para Blogger

El detalle no es otro que el uso del nombreseparator no es casual, sino que lo elegí de manera muy consciente. Resulta que esa caja auxiliar que ya he mencionado varias veces, la añade Blogger automáticamente siempre que subimos una imagen con el editor de entradas. Además le asigna una clase que ¿cuál diríais que es? Pues eso,separator.

Así que para Blogger no es necesario ir añadiendo la caja que rodea la imagen a mano, sino que simplemente deberemos añadir el CSS a la plantilla (entre las etiquetasskin) y después de eso TODAS las imágenes que subamos incorporarán este efecto sin necesidad de que toquemos el HTML.

Efecto reordenar imágenes

Bueno y falta lo del efecto para elhover. Simplemente habría que añadir al CSS esta regla adicional y listo:
